Well, it’s happening. The final (unofficial) weekend of summer is upon us. As the kids try to squeeze in the last moments of freedom before hitting the books, parents rush around to check off the list of school needs….good times! But fear not, there is always a good time to be had in and around Hamilton – the Labour Day Classic (Go Cats Go!), Labour Day Parade and of course, Canada’s Largest Ribfest rolls into Burlington for the weekend.
I had the pleasure of visiting the Ribfest when it made it’s only stop in Muskoka this summer at the Gravenhurst Wharf in July.
I love me some ribs! I am not however, a huge fan of crowds or lineups…..if you feel the same mark your calendars for next July and take a drive up to Muskoka and you won’t be disappointed.
We arrived early intending to grab food to share with friends at the cottage. We checked out all the choices but invariably we always end up at one of our favs, Gator BBQ.
The Smith family of Port Dover clearly know their food, they’ve been doing their thing for over 30 years! The just recently won “Best Ribs at the CNE” so don’t just take my word for it!
They have one of the friendliest crews around. Adam, Tiah and Kurt Smith were fabulous! We had our racks and sides in record time and were on our way to the cottage.
Gator BBQ will be at the Burlington Ribfest this weekend. Stop by and say hello! You can also check them out at their restaurant in Simcoe at 175 West Street. And while you’re there grab some of their delicious BBQ sauce…soooo good!
Burlington Ribfest runs all weekend at Spencer Smith Park.
